This scene was made for a contest named "Mechanical Insect". I got an idea to create a new scale-model from a concept based on Leonardo’s research and here is the story:

In the fifteenth century, the wish to fly like the birds forced Leonardo to design flying machines. He has a lot of notebooks containing 7000 pages where we can find some drafts with his imagination about those… But we never ever find out about what his first model was. Maybe he built one, or not; it would be a secret forever. But now let me present to you my mysterious butterfly, which may have been his first one…

The model was created in 3dsMAX, polygonal modeling, rendered with Vray. All the textures in Photoshop.
